For most, the effects of the transformations achieved on pilgrimage will fade with time, and the experience itself  will be mythified in memory, transforming itself into a nostalgia that is as likely
as not to draw the pilgrim back onto the road. To have been a pilgrim—as is the case with the authors of this book—is to yearn to be a pilgrim again.
